The latter is the voice cherished by Sanggar Bathin Galang representing the villagers of Bokor through the implementation of Bokor World Music Festival. First held in 2015, it is a world music concert introducing the wisdom of the heirs of malay culture, inhabitants of Bokor River.

The festival does not only feature Archipelago’s groups, for it has successfully invited and stolen the attention of some international musicians from Malaysia, France, England, Wales, Mexico, and Poland since 2016. One of them was Steev Kindwald. The man who is adept at playing wind instrument enjoyed his performance being held on a stage placed on the banks of Bokor River, set against centuries-old durian trees.

Bokor World Music Festival also promotes local potentials, such as a race over sago tree trunks which is a local folk game, as well as typical Bokor dishes offered by the hosts to the participants and visitors. This festival also invites its guest musicians to be the speakers of workshops attended by local children.

Away from the city hustle, there is no car in Bokor. By involving locals, visitors and participants and their musical instruments are carried by watercrafts, bicycles, motorcycles and carts. They are then hosted at locals’ houses, and have to walk along beautiful Bokor River to reach the event venue.

For its 2018 edition, Bokor World Music Festival adopts “Nature Dances Flowing Sound" as its theme. Musicians and visitors will be invited to plant mangroves in abrasion-affected areas on Rangsang Island. Villagers need classy entertainment.
