19      Save to calendar 2019-09-05 10:00:00 2019-09-07 24:00:00 Asia/Jakarta Solo International Performing Arts 2019 Art has settled down in the whole soul of Irawati Kusumorasri since she was very young. In the cold hands of a dance coach in Prangwedanan, Mangkunegaran Palace, her artistic talent began to be honed. Until a prominent figure in Indonesian dance, Sardono W. Kusumo, succeeded in forming her character and moves in staging her works up to the international stage in cultural missions overseas. She then became a permanent dancer at the Mangkunegaran Palace, Surakarta Palace.

In 2009, this youngest daughter of Sudiyatmo Suryosumanto initiated a world-class art performance called Solo International Performing Arts (SIPA). In the process, SIPA has involved young people and local artists to become a vanguard of the resilience of Indonesian culture.

This annual festival is an international-scale art performance which has indirectly become a meeting room for artists and art enthusiasts from various cultural backgrounds. Often the performers express a sense of togetherness in the midst of diversity.

This year, SIPA has adopted the theme "Art as Social Action". There are around five thousand seats provided for visitors wishing to watch art performance like beautiful choreographies on a 33.7 meter long stage. In addition to the performances of a mix of traditional and modern art, SIPA also presents various exhibitions and bazaars such as batik, handicrafts and Solo-typical culinary products.

The city of Solo can be easily reached by road and air travel. In addition to visit to Fort Vastenburg and the event site, you can also visit Kasunanan Surakarta Castle-Palace in Solo, or hunt for batik in the oldest batik centre in Indonesia, Kauman Batik Village, or Klewer Market to get a cheaper price.
